Inform the rental company first
A rental car remains subject to your rental agreement. After making sure occupants are safe, use the assistance contact supplied by the rental company and explain the situation. Ask who may intervene and which garage should receive the vehicle. Do not authorise repairs or dismantling before clarifying approval and responsibility for the costs.
Keep a factual record
Record the time, place, symptoms and instructions from the rental company. If safe, photograph the exterior condition before the car is collected. Keep your rental agreement and messages accessible. Avoid declaring a definite mechanical cause: describe what you observed so the professional can check the vehicle.
Arrange approved assistance
If the rental company authorises you to find a provider, open Daba and state that the vehicle is rented. Include access constraints at the hotel, car park or stopping place, then confirm the destination accepted by the rental company. Discuss passenger transport and a replacement car separately rather than assuming they are included.
