Safety comes before paperwork
If anyone is injured or there is immediate danger, contact the appropriate emergency services and follow their instructions. Do not expose yourself to traffic to complete a form or take photographs. Once people are safe, ask your insurer which procedure applies. An accident report does not replace the authorities when their involvement is required.
Describe the facts precisely
Check driver details, the vehicles involved, insurance references, date and location. The sketch and observations should reflect what you actually witnessed. Read the fields again and raise any disagreement before signing. Do not sign a blank form or wording you do not understand; ask your insurer for clarification.
Keep documents and arrange recovery
Keep a readable copy of the completed document and useful contact details. Ask your insurer about the submission deadline and documents required by your policy. If the car cannot be driven, clarify recovery arrangements with the insurer. A Daba request can help arrange authorised transport; financial coverage must be confirmed separately.
